CO Short Term Disability: Pregnancy, Maternity

If you are planning a pregnancy, you have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy income protection to cover a planned event: your normal maternity labor and delivery!  Colorado short term disability pays a six week benefit for your vaginal delivery, and an eight week benefit for your c-section birth. Your maternity leave benefit may greatly exceed the premium you pay.

25% of pregnancies will experience one or more complications.  You may miss weeks or months of work prior to your delivery.  Your temporary disability policy may continue to replace a portion of your income during this time helping you to protect family finances.

You may also experience some type of birth injury or postpartum complication that requires more time to heal than expected.  Your doctor may ask you to stay away from work in order to properly heal.  Your policy may continue to pay benefits during this time.

Colorado Short Term Disability Insurance

Colorado short term disability insurance can protect your income in case of accidents and illnesses that may cause you to miss work. Colorado maternity leave laws do not exist.  Colorado does not have state level laws pertaining to pregnancy and maternity leave as some other states do.  There are several federal laws that protect your rights and provide job protected leave including: Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Pregnancy Discrimination Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
