Pregnyl Cost Savings

Cut Pregnyl Costs - 3 Unique Strategies

Pregnyl Costs, Rates, Prices Cut by IRS

Pregnyl is used to stimulate ovulation after follicle development has been increased. It is the next step therapy after using Follistim as part of IVF and other artificial reproductive therapies.

The average price of a Pregnyl injection without insurance is about $50 per vial, and you might order 20 vials or more. You may pay a little less for larger quantities. You may use other fertility drugs in combination with a variety of infertility treatments. Keep in mind that your Pregnyl costs may be just one component in your quest to fund infertility treatments, pregnancy, and maternity leave.

It pays to research and understand the following:
  • Avoid Pregnyl costs - have your health insurance pay the bill when possible
  • Cut your Pregnyl price - by 1/3 or more with pre-tax dollars
  • Offset Pregnyl costs - supplemental maternity insurance will cover your normal labor and delivery

How to Get CoverageHow to Get Coverage

Health coverage with infertility benefits is very hard to find. Most plans cover little if anything - unless compelled by law. Infertility treatments are expensive by themselves, and they often result in pregnancy, which is more expensive still. Know how the rules work to maximize your chances of getting coverage. Find ways to minimize costs in case you can't.

Pregnyl Costs - Health Insurance Coverage

The best way to avoid Pregnyl and other costs of infertilty treatment is to have somebody else pay the tab - like an insurance carrier.  Check the insurance coverage for both spouses, and know the state laws mandating infertilty coverage for the states where both employers are headquartered, and where you live.

Fifteen states have laws mandating infertility coverage.  Most apply to employers headquartered in that state, and some apply to insurance issued in that state.

Pregnyl Costs Cut by IRS

Your Pregnyl and other costs are tax deductible. You can discount Pregnyl prices by offsetting tax savings. You have two options, but one is clearly superior:

Take an itemized medical deduction on your IRS Schedule A. Beware - the first 7.5% of your adjusted gross income will be subtracted from the total of your total Pregnyl costs to determine your amount of tax savings.

For example, if your adjusted gross income is $100,000 this means no tax savings on the first $7,500 of Pregnyl costs.

A Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) allows you to realize tax savings on your very first dollar of Pregnyl injection costs, plus you may also reduce the amount of State, and FICA taxes you pay. An FSA may generate tax savings of 1/3 or more for all your costs.

For example: a couple in the 25% federal income tax bracket paying FICA taxes of 7.65% saves a total of 32.65%.

In addition, you may get an interest free loan!

Loans and FinancingLoans and FinancingCouples without an infertility health policy may face a cash shortage. Infertility and IVF financing allows you to start treatment and repay the loan over time. This is scary. You are borrowing money right before losing mom’s income, introducing unplanned medical expenses and adding a new baby. Discover how to get an interest free loan from your employer. Protect your credit with supplemental benefits.

Pregnyl Costs Offset by Supplemental Insurance

Your are taking Pregnyl in an attempt to get pregnant.  When you buy supplemental insurance preconception your normal labor and delivery will be a covered benefit and this benefit may greatly exceed the premium you pay.

Use the surplus to offset your Pregnyl costs, plus you will be protected in case of complications, premature birth, accidents, and illnesses.

Supplemental PoliciesSupplemental PoliciesSupplemental maternity policies fill important holes for growing families.  Mom may need to miss time from work before delivery, and may be in and out of the hospital if she experiences a high-risk pregnancy.  If your infant(s) require a NICU stay there may be extra bills to pay.  Couples undergoing infertility treatment may find an added bonus for multiples!
